Excellent
Classic American novel. Touching story, well written, inspired in part by actual events and racial profiling during WWII.

This film, produced by Hallmark Theater in 2005, was very well done, of remarkably better quality than the shallow, kitschy holiday fodder they have regrettably been rolling out in cookie-cutter fashion in more recent years. The story is based on a novel of the same title by Anne Howard Creel, although the plot was condensed for its original intent as TV airing and ends somewhat differently than the book.
Nonetheless, the acting is excellent, the cinematography superior to their current productions,and the story is both touching and thought provoking. A fine evening's entertainment. The dvd has fleeting blanks where the original TV commercials were removed and plays well.
