Great detail and flawlesss operating qualities
Wonderfully detailed model of Union Pacific Veranda Gas Turbine locomotive. Unfortunately the original documentation normally included with the product was missing when I received the locomotive from the retailer but Athearn was quick to provide a pdf of the information.
Since the model was equipped with an NMRA 8-pin socket, a Soundtraxx TSU-2200 decoder was installed along with two 28mm speakers.

Soundtraxx Makes a Marvelous Decoder
Because Soundtraxx includes sound files appropriate for Union Pacific GTELs locomotives in my HO fleet, I had previously installed their TSU-2200 decoders along with 28mm speakers in my two Athearn units. I was VERY impressed with the sound quality. When I decided to swap the ESU LokSound decoder out of my Rivarossi 4-8-8-4, I naturally chose a Soundtraxx decoder, this time the TSU-21PNEM. Couldn't be more impressed. I highly recommend Soundtraxx decoders.
