Fantasic sounding, very capable, but display is dimmer than expected.
Sound quality using an external amp, this unit is hard to beat. It has 3 sets of 4V pre-amps. There are around 100 menu options to dial in the unit just right. Controls are easier to work than the previous generation. Switching radio and ipod is a one touch operations and ipod controls are well integrated.
So why not 5 stars? Well, the display loses so points. While it does show a lost of information with about 40 independent color choices for each the buttons and the display, the display simply isn't as bright as the previous generation and colors aren't as sharp. You can adjust the contrast, but to keep the display bright you get a color tint in the background. Because the display isn't as bright, it can get washed out in sunlight. Never the less, if you are looking for a great sounding highly capable single DIN head unit then the Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X995 should be at the top of your list.

Bought this to use with a replacement key case for a 997.2 (black case). Fits perfectly and easy to install with a drop of Gorilla Glue.

Proline Hyrax Predator tires are amazingly sticky for rock crawling

Recommend to vent only with small puncture holes. anything larger and they will start tearing when they flex. There is no other rock crawling tire that will grab as well o the rocks as these do.
Stock foams work well for a while, but will eventually soften/flatten causing the tire to flex too much. Recommend to upgrade to Crawler Innovation 2-stage foams when the stock foams collapse. Avoid Proline 2-stage foams with these at all cost. The inner foams are far too stiff and too large in diameter, taking all the flex out of the the tire when installed. Crawler Innovation inner foams are quite a bit softer and shorter to allow the tire to flex better to work better with these tires.
If you are just trailing, would not recommend these and they flex too much and will get caught on debris while trailing. Would recommend going to a G8 or harder compound for trailing.
