Classic Material!!!
Duke Ellington's Cool Rock is nothing short of a masterpiece! After listening to these unreleased & rare jewels, one simply has to wonder, how all this great material, was unavailable to the masses until 1992. 5 of the album's 12 tracks have never been heard before, including the title track Cool Rock, P.S. 170, Hi June, Hi Jane, & Vancouver Lights. All are instant classics, but P.S. 170 could not only be the greatest recording that The Duke ever made, quite possibly it could be one of the greatest ever made! And after only a single listen, the immaculate beauty of this song will leave any music lover absolutely speechless. It is 3 minutes and 44 seconds of indisputable perfection. It should be nothing short of a crime that Ellington, nor his millions of fans, never enjoyed the success this amazing work of art, would have likely experienced. The other 7 songs have all been released, but are not always easy to find, including Hello Dolly, Chinoiserie, & Things Ain't What They Used To Be. There is not a bad song anywhere on this CD, & can be played in its entirety without skipping. Cool Rock is an absolute must have for any real jazz or Duke Ellington fan, & a great addition to any music library.

Very Underated!!!
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich Extremely underrated album! Many fickle fans, and 'wanna-be shock-jock' music critics, that were still stuck in the Purple Rain & Sign O' The Times era, were starting to become very critical of Prince by this time. But, once again, all haters were silenced, as The Purple One, released a brilliant opus. Although, a deeper, more jazz influenced funk sound had replaced the more rock and electronic inspired music of the Revolution days, this music is every bit the classic, and just as timeless! From the 1st 2 monsters - My Name Is Prince & Sexy M.F., to one of his best ever, jazz influenced jams - Love 2 the 9's, this album is well put 2gether. Damn U, is 4 nothing but a fine bottle of wine, and a little bit of quiet time. The effortless complexity of Morning Papers, followed by the warm weather, island feel of Blue Light, then on to the gospel inspired acoustics of 7, every song pleases. Religion, love, world politics, bedroom fantasies, and quite simply, just who the hell this GREAT artist is, are all showcased, like only this once in a lifetime talent can do! HIS NAME IS PRINCE, and HE IS FUNKY!!!
