Not everything will be on at the same time, they tend to go on in waves. (I am just one person afterall).

Uses Labels and Prejudices throughout the book that could be offensive to some.
I wouldn't say the writing style is in tune with today's ideals and prejudices. Understanding the time frame it was written, one can see why it was expressed the way it is, but it could easily be offensive and degrading, especially to African Americans and Women. I tend to judge people on their character and not their color or gender. As sad as it is, in the 1930's and 40's it was the norm to use names and labels not accepted in today's society. You can't change the past, it is just the way it was, doesn't make it right. This book certainly doesn't imbue respect towards the author. I did enjoy the history behind Mardi Gras and learning the way things were done in the past, however some things need to just stay in the past and I think going further I would pick a different author for information on this subject.
