Destruction and Reconstruction : Personal Experiences of the Late War

Great version of this title

I try to read as many first-hand historical accounts as possible. Richard Taylor was an educated man and his writing reflects that, though his book does betray some of his personal bias relative to that period of the 19th century, particularly some predictable "sore loser" attitudes regarding events of the war, complete with the classic secessionist (false) claim that the war had absolutely nothing to do with the institution of slavery! It was worth reading and adding to my library, but I recommend John B Gordon's (CSA) Reminiscences of the Civil War for it's more balanced and straightforward style.
