Masters of the Universe vs. the Snake Men ~ the General ~ 2003 ~ MOC
    12. Mär 2017
    MOTU 2003 General Rattlor
First of all, the name. What happened? Someone didn't get the memo? This figure is based on the character "General Rattlor" from the 200X series, and they didn't bother to put the word "Rattlor" or even "Rattler" on the package? Okay, minor issue, moving on. (update: apparently it was a copyright issue. go figure. : ) Articulation: so close, yet so far. The wrists, shoulders and hips have all the articulation they should have, and it's fine for the figure to just rotate at the waist, but the head only rotates (which I guess is adequate) and there are no elbows or knees. Like, at all. Also, that block that stops the waist rotation at 90 degrees in either direction? Why? Too unrealistic for the torso to rotate 180 degrees? It's an anthropomorphic rattle snake. Come on. At least you can open and close the mouth. Special features: it's neat that Rattlor can actually spring-extend his neck to head-butt or bite attack other figures, but I think I would've preferred some kind of flexibility in the neck. I don't know...however they do it with those "bendy" figures--a metal wire inside some kind of rubber? I think? And while we're on that subject, the tail is flexible, but not posable; it would benefit from the same "bendy" treatment. At least the rattle is neat. Accessories: you can take his "clothes" off if you really want to. You can even put them on other figures...assuming they'd fit. Rattlor's a big boy (in terms of 6-inch-tall action figures). That staff...the projectile wouldn't even exit the launcher. It only even moved half the time, and then maybe a millimeter or two. Failed so hard that somewhere, both Rattlor and King Hiss are face-palming. Color: okay, yeah, this one's a plus. Accurate to the series, and I think they actually made him out of different colored plastic so there's no real paint to rub off. Great job there. Price: I haven't actually been able to find out what the actual retail price was for this thing when it came out, and I'm not allowed to talk about buying it here, so let's just say I hope it originally cost only half as much. Any more and it was overpriced. Summary: depending on the price, this could be a neat toy for your kids or a collectible for your shelf. Me, I dismantled it almost immediately and modified the head, hands and tail to fit a "Masters of the Universe Classics" figure of the same character, but I do something like that to almost every figure I buy.
