A solid performer

I have thoroughly enjoyed this purchase. After reading all the reviews, the only models highly rated in this price range were this Yamaha and the Denon. I picked this model because of the far better on screen display and the video upconversion. The sound is about the same. Since getting it I have had no problems. The on screen display is extremely impressive with a large depth of screens to tweak everything, and modern graphics with scrolling, color, picture backgrounds, etc. The unit is typically warm to touch, but the I have never heard fan noise. The only thing I dont like about the Yamaha rx v2600 is that I cant change the name of the inputs. The title of the inputs is prehistoric and includes things like phono. Modern inputs like HTPC (home theater pc), XBOX, or PSII cannot be made. The Denon allows you to change the name of the current input name to whatever you want. This Yamaha allows you only to change the name that appears on the remote control LCD. It is hard for the wife and kids to remember they have to press DTV to watch movies from the HTPC or other nonintuitive exchanges have been made. All in all, it is still the best model out in the under $1k price range.

Met expectations

More speakers and atmos really made movies more enjoyable. Sending music to receiver from cell phone is also nice.
