It holds the paper towels firm, so you can tear them off without unrolling half the roll. We love it so much, we bought 3 more.
We love it so much that we bought 4. One is on the counter or table, in the kitchen, one on his work bench, and one in the car for when we travel. It has a weighted base, so it stays in place in the car. We don't have to chase it around. It's always where we left it. One is under the cabinet, in the kitchen. That one doesn't have the weighted base. It mounts horizontally. Like I said, we love it.
