The title is the area of Minnesota where the story is set. It's a good title.
Excellent story of a pursuit through the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota. A young lady who is popular singer retreats to the home area of her murdered mother to reflect on her future. She is pursued by several men, all of whom have different motives to have her killed. The local ex-Sheriff, Cork O'Connor, steps in, and with help from law enforcement, they chase the bad guys into the wilderness area. It's a real page-turner that one does not want to put down.

Although the technology is out-of-date, the story is well-constructed, especially considering it is a debut novel. Denson is an P.I., one who does not carry a gun and relies on his wit to carry him through tense situations. People who are used to blood and guts in detective stories may not be interested, but those who like the thought processes used in detective stories should be pleased.

Intricate look at how street gangs function at a political level. Interesting characters. Volume 1 in a series, so more to read.
