A must-read for Tolkein fans.
Want to know the whole romance of Beren & Luthien that Aragorn sung about? What sort of creature is Gandalf anyway, and where did the wizards come from? What did Elrond mean when he refered to the goblin wars of Gondolin for which Orcrist and Glamdring were forged? Who was Turin the Elf-friend? How did Frodo and Sam get into the story of Earendil and the Silmaril, and what, pray tell, is a silmaril? Here is the pre-history of Middle Earth. Why is it called Middle Earth? Read this book. Oh yes, and what about Numenor?
