set screws are drilled to push the tool cutting face away from spindle centerline
Should have looked closer at the photos, as the geometry for this fly cutter is not technically correct.
The set screws are drilled such that they push the tool cutting face away from the spindle centerline. Proper fly-cutter geometry holds the tool so the cutting edge lies on on a plane with the spindle centerline.
Probably works ok as is & not a HUGE issue.. maybe a little extra chatter as is? Personally, I will just drill & tap the opposite side to get the correct geometry
