Good for the money, but needs work

Comparing this head-to-head to even a moderately priced "real" guitar, this would get a 1. But, for what it is, at $35, it's actually better than I expected -- that's why I am giving it a 4. I expected that it would take some work to make it playable, and that was part of the attraction -- I wanted to practice my guitar setup skills on an instrument that I wouldn't cry over if I screwed it up. That what I got. After some work -- properly locating the floating bridge, replacing the strings, and lowering the action -- it's reasonably playable, and while it doesn't sound anything like a Martin dreadnaut or even a $200 Yamaha, it sounds as good as you could hope for from a cheap, ultra-small-body instrument. I would not recommend this if you're buying a first guitar for a kid or for yourself, don't know how to set it up, and don't want to learn -- out of the box, it sounds bad and is all but impossible to play. Do yourself a favor and if you want something little and cute, get a $50 ukulele. If you want a guitar, spend $150 or $200 and get something that will sound decent and not frustrate the heck out of you. But if you like to tinker, you might have fun with this one.
