"Across the Forest" Review
An exceptionally well done film, both artistically and technically, and perfectly organized so that the viewer is well aware of what the persons being interviewed are discussing. The subtitles are well timed to the dialog, and capture the true spirit and intent of the various narrators, who are residents of the remote areas of the Romanian and Transylvanian countryside. The old world charm of these respondents can not be equaled, and neither can the straightforward ingenuousness of their personal stories and recollections be denied. At certain points, detailed artwork provides a background and illustrates the story being told with a verve that deftly ties in with the material of the stories themselves.
These young filmmakers have created a much needed and valuable document, which in itself, is living history, and a preservation of ancient culture and traditions that, in today's world, are sadly, and rapidly vanishing. They are to be commended and highly praised for their careful and painstaking work! Their film is a historical monument!
