K-Line has placed itself, however in a Posthumous way, now in my opinion belongs on the shelf with other high Quality model Train MzFGs,
Unpacking the switcher allowed me to feel the weight and know the engine would demonstrate good adhesion. Visually seeing the engine for the first time, made me smile at the detail, paint, two truck gearing and identifications.
When placed on high 3rail track, the balance and weight distribution was spot on. Using a conventional transformer, the EMD MP-15 coasted easily at 5 to 10 mph and continued running with out flaw or hesitation as more power was applied.
The important test is tractive effort. With 12 scale cars connected, the locomotive pulled the consist easily. Knuckle couplers held at O-31 and O-42 curves. The prime mover motors are quiet and responsive.
