affordable fiingerboard
Most inexpensive violins come with dyed fingerboards. This is a good replacement, but find a good luthier to do the replacement.

Perfect inexpensive upgrade for inexpensive tailpieces.
Since I use Perfection Planetary Pegs, I have no need of tuners. This effectively holds the string ends without the extra weight, and damping effect, of the tuners. Ebony is becoming rare, so jujube and rosewood are good alternatives, both economically and aesthetically. You can make your own, but this is hard to beat!

Welding with flux core wire yields unsatisfactory results. Converting to gas shielded is the way to go. If you have one of these Lincoln Welders, convert it now before the parts become unavailable. You will not be sorry!
