Still got it!
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich This is a great gift to fans who thought that "Havana" might be his farewell. The voice is back - not as youthful and vibrant as it used to be, but then neither am I. John Stewart with 50% of his once great voice is still better than 95% of anything else you'll find out there. This guy is the best singer/songwriter of them all, and he proves it again. He can be light and fun (Amanda Won't Dance), contemplative (Jasmine), or downright serious (New Orleans - one of the all-time Stewart greats). I suspect that this is really an album for long time Stewart fans. If you want to hear him at his best, check out "California Bloodlines", "Willard", or any of his RSO albums. The fact that he never became a household name outside of Phoenix is one of the greatest musical mysteries of all time. I hope he will stop recording if his voice gives out permanently. Havana was one of the greatest disappointments ever.
Check this one out. Listen to clips on-line or at your local store's listening station. If the voice were 100%, it would be a solid 5. Thank you, John, for this fine CD.

Outstanding
Robinella is a local girl (Knoxville, TN), and I have followed her career from the beginning. She started out with a group called Robinella & the CC String Band, an eclectic group that did a blend of mountain, swing, and jazz. Her voice is golden and the melodies are terrific. This album shifts to a more jazz style, and is very well done.

Same old same old

Her extreme positions are repeated over & over until they are numbing, not thought-provoking. I like an artist the tackles controversy, opposes the majority, and gives them hell, but Tracy, at best, gives them heck. Let's have some music here, not repetitive recitations.
On the plus side, she has an engaging personality that comes across in her performance. Her sincerity is refreshing, if not persuasive. If she gets some production help to be more musical, she could be dynamite.
