Legend of Tom Dooley with truth and folk tales combined
very good depiction of rural life in the 1860's-foot paths-houses of families scattered around the hills and valleys-retelling of people's memories and recollections as actual evidence-interesting to learn what stories were taken into consideration-what was left out-what things were not investigated further-so different from today's means of conviction and determination of guilt.Also good description of the political effects of the post civil war era on the selection of judges and lawyers-a few things I would still like to know about the case

secret bad reactions to infant mutilation without consent
lots of information about the defects in the circumcision practice-all his information is well documented and carefully presented-there are some times it is necessary but very rarely yet the US continues to inflict needless torture and eventual decreased sexual pleasure just to uphold a custom. A good case for better education of prospective parents regarding this form of mutilation without the infants consent-psychological effects for the entire life of the man just to deny that he had vital parts amputated without his permission. Sad. Sorry for the men already subjected to this barbaric practice but some one needs to stand up and put a stop to it. Do doctors need the $200 that bad?
