Paperwork said not to use spacer on 2" inch, but I did have to use the spacer to secure towpower from wanting to slip around after it was tightened to my 2" hitch. Spacer hole was too small to slip around base of ball, so I ground opening out wide enough to fit. I also had to modify the wiring. It came with and odd 2 plug in sysytem, I just bought a regular plug and rewired to work. I was aware of these concerns by reading reviews, so I expected it. Light is nice and bright and step works great.
