Run Capacitor for refrigerator
The running capacitor on my Maytag refrigerator failed after many years of service. It was a 15 mfd. capacitor, rather small in size (about 1/8 th the size of this capacitor). The voltage rating was not written on the old capacitor, but since this was a 120 v refrigerator, this new capacitor should have been extremely over rated for this installation. It was much larger in size than the original, but that did not concern me since there was plenty of space available to install it. When this capacitor was installed, the refrigerator ran for less than a week and the capacitor failed. I replaced it with a large ac capacitor that I have had on my shelf for more than 50 years and it has been running perfectly since. I am a retired PhD Electrical Engineer with many years experience in my 87 years of life, so am not a novice. I was extremely disappointed with this particular capacitor. Don't know if it was just a lemon or not.
