Steel is Real
Beauty frame - For a hard-tail its relatively silky smooth and deluxe feel on hard, bumpy gravel at full speed or on double black diamond (x-c ski) single-track. Balanced and responsive. Noticeable improvement in feel and dynamics over my dated but upgraded and responsive Stumpjumper FS (Tange Prestige). In steel, this is as good as it comes and it doesn't disappoint. There are definitely lighter and stiffer hardtail bikes out there, but I am not convinced that any I have tried ride quite as nice. Steel properly done does have a nice feel to it. I wouldn't race it tho'. Great value and balance of performance, ride quality (design + materials) and $$. Running this as a home build with using Ritchey WCS headset, Classic Ritchey handlebar, seatpost and stem, Ritchey ZeroMax saddle, Ritchey WCS Z-Max Comp Evo tires 2.25, Mavic rims, XT groupset, XT hydraulic brakes, Rockshox XC 32 10mm Solo air. I ride this bike hard and fast to stay fit and I put it away wet.
