An inexpensive and very effective nail strengthener .... if you can find it!
I've used this for years and years. It's clear, quick-drying, non-messy, non-smelly, and it really does strengthen nails. AFTER removing nail polish and thoroughly washing nails with soap and water, I brush it on my nails and under the tips of my nails Let it "sink in" for 30 minutes or so for best effect.
VERY sorry to learn that this product has been discontinued, but ... if you search carefully, you can often find it in discount stores or big-box stores. It's worth hunting down.
