An excellent read
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich This book is one of the very best I have ever read on the topic of engaging cultures not yet integrated into the current century. Steve Saint gives us more than a bird's eye view. Rather, he shows us why the Waodani are people with normal aspirations about life but lacked the facilities to see those dreams realized. Without making them totally dependent on "the outside", he shows how peoples of this type can transition into the 21st century without abandoning all of their cultural ways. He goes on to show us how these peoples can also embrace modern technology without having to wade through several centuries of technology in order to "catch up" with all that was/is new. His insights are helpful and demonstrate his vast experience. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering working in an overseas situation where people from "previous" centuries wil be encountered.
