Cold Steel Drop Forged Hunter Fixed 4.6 in Blade SS Handle

Best quality one can get for the price

Very high quality steel, built strong, forged and ground to shape, sturdy heat treat, all for under 50 dollars total. That’s a rarity this day in age. Cold Steel, please do not discontinue this line! I will buy more.

Buck Knives 112 Ranger Charcoal & 5160 Carbon Steel Folding Knife W/ Sheath

I wish Buck knives produced more of these.

These particular Buck 112 Ranger folding knives are really hard to beat. Especially in 5160 carbon spring steel. I’m not the biggest fan of stainless, like their run of the mill lockback knives are, but I’m DEFINITELY making an exception on the steel they switched to in these knives. Much more durable steel, similar edge holding as 420hc, easy to hone. Plus, I get that classic carbon steel patina on a classic lockback design! The fit and finish are second to none. Good, stout weight, but not too clunky. My only complaint is that I wish Buck Knives produced more of these on the regular.

Great knife, fit and finish could be a little better

This is a great knife! Very substantial for an EDC. The fit and finish could be a little better, as these knives are listed at 1/4” thick. This knife was overly ground on one side of the blade, thinning it from 1/4” closer to 3/16”. I own another one that isn’t like that and it’s full 1/4”. But that is not reason enough to dislike the knife or completely discount its quality build and design. This is still an excellent little bomb proof knife that should serve you for many, many years to come with no issues. I wish Ontario would bring back this line (Ranger Series) of knife.
