cheaply made, you get what you pay for
Sieves have small (but larger than the rest) hole in the middle which is a bit odd. I'm using mine to sieve raw materials in small amounts to make pottery glazes. The mesh is generally poorly attached. For me they are fine (cheap and cheerful) but I wouldn't recommend them for someone expecting to pay little and get good quality.

A good collection of recipes but imagination needed
This is a book of raku recipes by an Australian author. Some of the ingredients (frits) are impossible to find in the UK. I have tried some of the recipes in an electric kiln (conventional firing) and a raku kiln and had mixed results. You would not buy this book for the illustrations. The author's work which form the bulk of the images is not to everyone's taste. There is very little indication, except for the occassional mention, of what temperature to fire at or photos of the results. That said since almost all raku results are unpredictable there are a lot of recipes to try out and for a beginner like me it was a good starting point.

For potters not sculptors
I have rated it good but only because I assume a potter might find it worth buying. I am a sculptor and bought it because a) it was written by someone English (instead of American) and b) there was a sculpture on the cover (but next to nothing about sculpture inside!) The illustrations have no captions so you have to read a lot of text to see who made what. Only the middle colour plates give the artist's name. The pages devoted to recipes are a bit short on useful information and there are very few low-fire recipes. I should have borrowed a copy from my library before buying. It's a heavy book.
