The Mersey sound at it's best!!!!
If you're even remotely interested in the Mersey sound, this is a absolute must. With all of the DVD/Blu-ray releases of bands from the 50's-70's, I always look for two things. Complete performances and insight from the artists themselves. This DVD captures both. All the big songs are here as is Gerry to help guide you through his career. His beginnings by being signed by Brian Epstein, his first recordings with George Martin, his friendship with The Beatles, all discussed. "You'll Never Walk Alone" (which I happen to prefer Gerrry's unassuming style in delivering) is dubbed to the record. Yet, I find it worth playing over and over. His two big songs "Ferry Cross The Mersey" and "Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying" are from the Sullivan show, and again well worth repeating. Plus, Gerry talks about what it was like to be in the middle of a "happening" from 1962-1966. Excellent production!

Fantastic book that provides great detail on America's #1 Theater still standing in NYC. All details of the Disney restoration that keeps the magic of the early 20th Century alive.

Why Gene Kelly was more than a dancer
Pleasantly surprised by this MGM product from the 40's. Lana Turner and Vincent Price were great as the villains and the other supporting cast did their parts well. The lighting, costumes, and sets were some of the best MGM had to offer - perfect if not historically accurate. Music score (while classical) would have served much better if it were original. The real prize though is Gene Kelly. His homage to Douglas Fairbanks is second to none. His acrobatics are flawless and that Irish charm shows through - even if he's supposed to be French. Worth viewing at least once.
