Did the job
I actually installed it on a T4, 5 cylinder 2.5 Diesel engine. It works fine. The only reservation that I have is that once the solenoid contacts stuck in the closed position. The symptoms were that the motor continued to turn after the key returned from the start position. The motor drive was not engaged so it didn't turn the engine. It just continued to spin and eventually would have drained the battery if I hadn't disconnected a battery terminal. I had to remove the motor and then the starter solenoid. The contacts are not easily accessible but I managed to get the contacts to open by repeatedly dropping the moving armature of the solenoid in to the coil thereby shocking the contact open. It all seemed very dry inside so I added a smear of teflon spray. It has not happened again (yet).
If it does reoccur I might save having to take it off again by turning the key back to the start position straight away thereby re-engaging the gear. The mechanical shock and the engine eventually starting might cause enough vibration to get the contacts to open. We shall see.
