Hogue Mossberg 500 20 GA. OverMold Shotgun , Black 05011 Forends

I really like this forend.

I really like the shape and texture of the Hogue forend. It is better than the OEM one provided with my M500. This is for the 6 5/8" 20 gauge slide action tube, as advertised, but the picture accompanying the Hogue instructions is deceiving. It shows the castle nut securing at the front/outside of the forend. It doesn't, and novices might look at the received item and think they got the wrong one. The forend extends 1" beyond the end of the slide tube threads, and the castle nut fits into a narrower opening inside the forend. This makes it a little tougher to secure the nut without the right tool. I merely inserted the handle-end of a flat castle nut tool in order to lock into the two slots of the nut. The bottom line is the forend fit perfectly with the slide tube assembly, and it secured easily.

Well worth it.

Have had these mags for some months now, and getting them has made range and sport shooting all the more enjoyable.

Solid and perfect for my little plinker

Pretty straightforward design and function, and installation was quick and easy. Legs pull-extend smoothly and snap-retract easily with a push of the lever. The unit is solid, and the legs feel quite secure in up or down position. It's mounted on a Savage A22 FV-SR .22lr so, naturally, recoil is not an issue. Basically, the legs extend for minor adjustment in leveling or a slight rise of both...and it's just what I wanted.
