Installing DD-WRT on the ASUS RT-N66U

DD-WRT is not loaded on this. It takes longer to research how to install DD-WRT on this router than it takes to do it. There is no point in installing anything less than the Mega version. You will read about a silly thing called the 30-30-30 reset, AKA Clear NVRAM. just do it. if you don't do it and you brick your router, you were told it would happen. just do it. Ignore the older posts that show complicated procedures to install this. With this build: Clear NVRAM install firmware via the built in ASUS firmware upload Clear NVRAM Configure DD-WRT to suit your needs you can put a 32 gig micro SD card in the router and have a very private NAS drive. turn off USB support when not needed, only DD-WRT mavens with your password will have a chance to access it. you don't need to fool around installing external antennas, but I would suggest you find away to support and separate the removable antennas so they remain vertical and parrallel. RP-SMA connector. The 9 db omnis available everywhere do in fact show 7 db RSSI gain over standard 2.1 dbi gain antennas.

An insider trick you need to know

This camera does not work in low light or with IR illuminators as it comes. You need to remove the lens, and remove the square purple IR filter from the back of the lens, or replace the lens. With this change, it is a fine low light camera. Use pair of pliers on the lens, they drilled through the lens for the screw that holds the lens in place. The drilling chips wedge the lens in place
