Excellent book about the development of hand held gunpowder weapons
An excellent little book covering the history of hand guns from the 13th century to the 1500s. Very interesting section on the development of gunpowder. Full of fascinating illustrations as well. If you are looking for specialist knowledge about this subject or are just a medieval history fanatic like me this is a must for you.

Loved the TV series? This is much better!
Bernard Cornwell is a master at showing the battles and violence of the 9th century. You can almost believe you were there with his hero, Uhtred. Cornwell, however, tempers the horrors of war with evocative descriptions of the rural landscapes and builds strong and memorable characters. I couldn't put this book down!
