"You're Gonna Miss Me" DVD Roky Erickson
Well, I originally purchased it for my boyfriend who is a diehard Roky Erickson fan and has been for many, many years. Since we had tickets to see Roky on New Year's Eve last week, my boyfriend wanted me to watch the film to better understand the person we were about to see. I had always known the music of "The 13th Floor Elevators" but nothing personal about Roky Erickson. It was a very good domentary which told the story of how Roky started out with "The 13th Floor Elevators" and later on was diagnozed with schizophrenia and put away for a couple of years. It showed what he went thru when he got out, how he lived, his family life, etc. He was this kind and gentle soul. The most emotional part, I felt, was the love his brother, Sumner had for Roky. He did everything he could to get his big brother the help he needed and he did. Thanks to Sumner, his fans can now go and see Roky play again and hear the unique voice that everyone fell in love with. Now, go buy this dvd and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed!!
