Bare Minerals... Worth It or Not?
I love Bare Minerals, but I hate the prices they charge. My solution: buy it on eBay! I bought my start-up kit from a TV ad, but the replacement jars are exorbitant! This product makes my skin look gorgeous. And eBay makes it affordable.
Be aware that there are knock-off brands and I've heard of instances of counterfeit Bare Minerals. The real skin products are worth it. I have found their eye shadows are pricey and unknown brands of mineral eye colors are just as good as Bare Minerals' eye shadows.

Bare Minerals.. Comparing the Genuine Products Versus the Knock-offs
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich We all love eBay to save money, and doing that,I have tried various "knock-offs" of Bare Minerals the last year or so, but you know what? The colors are all slightly "off" and I look like I'm wearing a mask. So I recently purchased some REAL Bare Minerals foundation and Mineral Veil. The first day I wore it, several friends who know that I don't set foot out of the house commented that it looks like I've barely got any make-up on! The real thing.. real Bare Minerals.. looks and feels better. No more knock-offs for me!
I'm also happy with a seller I found on eBay who often has auctions on the colors I wear and I ended up spending a LOT less than buying from Bare Escentuals (the company that makes Bare Minerals)and nearly the price I was spending for knock-offs. A few cents more gives results that look like a million bucks!
If you're considering mineral make-up, I'd suggest talking to someone at Bare Escentuals 800# or going to a Bare Escentuals or Ulta store, to determine which is the right foundation color for you, and buy a starter kit (either when it's on Special on TV or from an eBay seller). The starter kits come with foundation, "Warmth" (a blush/bronzer), Mineral Veil (a sheer setting powder), great brushes, & a how-to DVD. After that, save money and get your individual refills on eBay!
I have purchased Bare Escentuals' cosmetic products, but I am not quite as fond of the originals vs the knock-offs for that. Bare Escentuals makes a gazillion shades of eye color and come out with new ones every season. At the BE store in the mall, they had platters of eye colors you could compare... I wanted a brown one and the brown platter must've had at least 30 browns! I sampled them and felt obligated to buy one. For $13! But the knock-offs are a fraction of the price and seem virtually identical to me. I found a knock-off company on eBay that sells sample-size packets of well over 100 colors... for $1 each and I refill my BE vials with those! When I ran out brown BE, I tried 2 or 3 of the knock-off shades till I found the perfect brown. 2 of the greens, 2 of the blues, and 2 of the highlighters... all for less than the cost of one little jar of the BE brand.
Although BE also makes mineral mascara and lipsticks, I haven't tried those. And BE does sell a skin primer called Skin Rev-er Upper, that I HIGHLY recommend to put on before applying minerals. I got my first bottle from BE when I got my starter kit, but I save money by checking eBay auctions!
In closing, I L0VE Bare Minerals foundation, Warmth, & Mineral Veil! And I love their eye colors, but am equally happy with much-cheaper mineral knock-offs.
