IRobot 5800 Scooba Robotic Vacuum
This is a great little robot that will mop your floors. Even though it also vacuums, it is best to have the floor free of debris, just as you would have done with the traditional mop and bucket routine. The robot's top lifts up and it has two tanks, one for the clean water and one for the dirty. I use the Scooba floor cleaner in mine. It only takes one and a half ounces, and it smells wonderful. The robot's cleaning pattern is the same as the Roomba's. I have hardwood and tile floors. The Scooba does a great job on both surfaces without putting to much water on the floor. It doesn't put any more water on the floor than a traditional mop. I love my Scooba mopping robot, it allows me to do other things. I am a mother of three and I homeschool, so I have plenty of other things to do. The Scooba uses a rotating brush that scrubs the floor and actually goes over the same spot approx. 4 times. The robot comes with one virtual wall, so you can keep it contained. When the robot is finished, you empty the dirty tank, clean the filter, vacuum port, and brush. This only takes about two minutes. The robot will stay longer on heavier soiled areas, however don't expect miracles, if you have a sticky, dirty spot you may have to spot clean it once the robot is finished. I think this robot is great, it is very easy to use. One quick tip, leave your robot charging all the time, this increases the battery life. I bought a used robot off of EBAY, it had only been used 3 times and the lady had the box and all the paperwork, it was only eight months old. After I prepared the cleaning solution, I pushed the button for it to start cleaning. It sounded like the pump was working but then it would stop and the light would come on telling me to check the tank. I did everything it said to do in the book. It still would not work, so I called the IROBOT customer service number in the manual. I actually spoke with a person who spoke English. She was very nice and told me excactly what to do. The robot had not been used in a while, so I took the syringe and squirted water through the port until it came out under the robot, just as she instructed. This primmed the pump and when I pushed the button, it took off cleaning. The customer service dept. is fantastic, they sent me a survey via email to make sure the problem was fixed. Very heavy duty thick blades, worked perfectly on our Bushhog PZ3061 zero turn mower. These blades didn't throw grass all over me.
