Texture trumps how long they last.
The texture allows me to pick out my house key no matter how numb my fingers or how many keys I have. The texture is the same reason I have to change out my key cover every six months to a year. I don’t care about that, I hate searching for the key I want.

Good value
This is the third one I've had. That sounds bad, but they don't live forever. The first one lived over six years and Garmin doesn't support it anymore, so no more new maps. I keep replacing it with the same item because I'm used to it, I have the car charger and mount and I can get it for $20 on Ebay. I don't use my phone for my mapping, because I still need my phone. The Garmin is right up on my sightline so I can keep my eyes on the road and just glance at my directions.
