The optimal laserdisc of The Princess Bride
Within Criterion's library, The Princess Bride is an oddity - originally released early on in 1988/89 in rather barebones CAV and CLV editions, Criterion brought the film back as spine #320 in 1997 to deliver a full CAV version loaded with extras. They include (but are not limited to) commentary with director Reiner, producer Scheinman, Billy Crystal, Peter Falk, and William Goldman himself, plus behind the scenes footage and other similar preproduction insights.
To my knowledge, some of these extras have not been replicated on subsequent DVD or BR releases, making this particular edition a prize. Look for the colored "The Princess Bride" title on the cover plus "A film by Rob Reiner" on the bottom, unique identifiers for this edition. Accept no substitutes!
