Cheap insurance for you Excalibur
I bought this along with Plugger's 3 piece travel shaft. It is very well made and does what it is designed to do without getting in the way while detecting. If you want to install it on the opposite side (from what it was designed for) you will need to drill two more holes. No big deal though. A product well worth having for the peace of mind.

Got the job done
It's a genuine Oster replacement part and works as well as the original. It takes a little bit of mechanical skill to install. Just take your time and make notes as to where the wires to the motor plug in. There are YouTube videos showing how to replace this part.

Best shaft lock available
The only shaft lock I know of that is unaffected by sand and keeps the lower rod from moving. It's also impervious to the effects of salt water with no metal parts to corrode. Installs in seconds with a screwdriver.
