A Dive Into Imperial Philosophy
I mostly wanted to read both volumes of this book because they were written by Napoleon III. He wasn't just giving a history of Caesar, but using it to demonstrate why "great men" like Charlemagne or Napoleon are justified in in their deeds of war. I don't agree with this rhetoric, but I'm studying it for my own writing, primarily in my 'Tales of Draco' series. This book opens up the philosophy I wish to address thematically and offer my responses. Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky also reacted to this book in their respective novels.
