Frank Harte - Daybreak & A Candle-End [New CD] UK - Import

Great, if it is what you are interested in.

This is for a specialty audience. Frank Harte was a GREAT collector of songs that working and rural Irish people learned orally, sang and passed down from one generation to the next. Particularly songs heard on the Streets of Dublin in the 19th and first half of the 20th century. Vocally he leaves a lot to be desired - "authenticity" Try to find his slight book "Dublin Songs" This is a reissue of a CD he made later in his life. Hopefully the 2 others he made at that time will be also reissued.

Fundamental recordings of a great string quartet.

Early career recordings of one of the greatest post WW11 string quartets. Sound is excellent. Notes informative 14 disc's- excellent value.

Superior Singers Superior Collection

I think these are 5 star singers if you enjoy listening to recordings this old. Particularly if you have a particular interest in Opera singers of Imperial Russia. I am not aware of a collection that begins to approach this 2 CD. set in # of recordings and quality of sound of the 78s that were transferred . Also presumably because it was used the price was quite reasonable.
