A must-have for fans of classic children's books and beautiful dolls
Dean's Rag Book and Rag Doll Company was, and continues to be, a major British manufacturer of top quality toys and dolls and rag books.
The history of this company is fascinating.
I also strongly recommend Peter and Dawn Cope's amazingly detailed book on Dean's Rag Books and Rag Dolls.
Neil Miller is an expert and writes compellingly, with excellent photos and images from the early 1900s onwards,

Classic British (historical and more) drama!
Catherine Cookson is an outstanding British popular novelist in the vein of Dickens or D.H. Lawrence or Hardy. Strong characters, in vivid environments, caught up in exciting conflicts and turmoil.
Turned into telemovies, these have been brilliantly cast with star actors (e.g. Nigel Havers!), scripted faithfully to follow the books, and gorgeously filmed on locations.
Simply outstanding dramatic and romantic stories, not simple entertainments, but gripping narratives and characters you are strongly attracted to!
Very highly recommended!!

Classic British fantasy of science and magic -- and funny!
J.B.S. Haldane was a scientist of high standing and achievement. He also wrote this marvelous, and funny book, about episodes in which the eccentric scientist-cum-magician , Mr. Leakey, is visited by the narrator.
Think, perhaps, of Mary Poppins, and Nurse Matilda, and Pippi Longstocking, blended into something hilarious, and, often, surprisingly informative!
Very highly recommended!!
