3M Disposable Paint System
Not a professional sprayer but over the years I have done quite a bit of spraying with a variety of paints on vehicles, projects and assorted small items. The frustration that I have had is that the cleaning down often takes longer than the time to spray and that I sometimes need to go back and re-coat with the same paint requiring me to store readied paint for short periods (clearly not 2K) in tins and assorted containers.
To try and reduce these problems I looked at the DeVilbiss and the 3M versions of disposable pots and settled on giving the 3M a try primarily because I thought that it would enable me to keep a number of small amounts of different colours more readily than the DeVilbiss one for painting small parts.
Whilst not exacly cheap to buy in the first place needing a gun adaptor, outer pot and a supply of the inner disposables I have found the system to be very convenient to use and to me, well worth the cost. What I like most are:
- The pots come in a variety of sizes which suits my paint use.
- There is a filter in the system so I don't need the paper funnel filters.
- I can store a part used pot and just clean the gun.
- Cleaning only the gun saves a lot of time and significantly reduces the amount of solvent cleaner. (I havn't tried water based).
- I can use the gravity gun even upside down without spilling paint.
- Quality and function of the parts is good, They work.
I am using a DeVilbiss SRi Pro gravity gun.
