Sthil variants.
This carburettor seems well made, the only problem was it didn’t fit the strimmer . On closer inspection I realised the FS55 sthil had a cr2mix stamped on the old carb, and the inlet port on the manifold had a protruding vane across the Venturi stopping the new carb from fitting flush before tightening, I found that the FS55 was fitted with different carbs, so in fairness it wasn’t advertised incorrectly. I managed to get the purchased carb to fit by relieving the mating faces to match by measurement and grinding the relief on the mating faces, and it worked. The strimmer started, and I just had to tweak the low and high running screws to tune. I’m sure this is not the norm to do this, but as the carburettor is listed for this model and the engine cc is the same on both FS models it was worth a go,and we will see how it performs over time.

Power tool batteries.
Bit suspicious at first when I saw these batteries, as original ones are more expensive, but they do the job. The voltage gauge is useful, they charge ok, and have the capacity. Why pay more? Pleased with my purchase. I have various bits of kit that run on these batteries, so very useful to have reserve when using them, or can use multi tools without having to change from one to another.You can never have too many batteries!!
