A touching therapeutic story about exploding the world, aimed at girls and all boys that love animals.
I was slightly put off by all the loving bestowed on the girl child, whist I sprinted through the pages, clocking how most of the animals featured in Grandma's exploration where heading for extinction. This book was published in 1993, it has a classic tale to tell. It is so NOT a glorification of the self, it is not a pink princess type book. The ending page child illustration is beautiful - There is more to life than being a princess.
I love this book. A therapeutic story for budding David Attenborough girls or boys, narrated by a Grandparent. It is clear to me that Grandparents can play a key part in a child's emotional development, whist family homes can be often chaotic, with little time for one to ones. I was touched by this book. If you love animals and you care about the planet, this is is a gentle introduction to more in-depth conversations about our special Blue Planet Earth.
