It looks just like a San Francisco cable car!
In spite of being more than a decade old, the cable car was in very good condition. No visible damage anywhere.
The gearbox had gone dry, and the electrical pickup wasn't working, but it only took about 30 minutes of work to open it up, get it lubricated, clean the carbon off the wheels and electrical pickups, and also clean the treads of the wheels.
After getting it back together it ran immediately upon the application of low power and was stable at slow speeds.
With the addition of a handful of seated figures, I've got exactly what I wanted for my garden railroad.

Very nice looking lamps.
I purchased two of these. They look really good, both lit and unlit. They have both stopped working after about 100 hours of use. If I were to purchase them again, I think I'd try running them at 9V instead of 12V to try to get a longer life out of them. Be very careful stripping the wires, they are exceedingly thin.

These are high quality people for garden railroads
I have figures on my garden railroad from several manufacturers, and the Preiser figures stand out for detail and quality. I always try to use Preiser figures in the most visible locations. I've had some of them out in the sun and the rain for 18 months and they still look great.
