Ideal to start a Praktica B-range collection.
Produced by Pentacon from 1981 till 1986 this was the second camera in the B-range after the B200. Unlike that "full option" B200 this was an entry-level half-automatic camera where you could only choose the aperture on your lens and the camera set the appropriate speed, aka "aperture priority".
Otherwise you get everything you need, nothing more, nothing less. Well, you also get a battery-check and a self-timer. No memory button though. And being one of the early B-range cameras, made before the decline of the late 1980s, you still get quality for your money : the B100 was the first SLR I bought way back in 1985 and it's still functioning. Unlike my Japanese made SLR's which only last 3 to 4 years of intensive use.
This camera requires a PX628V battery which can be found without much trouble in specialised camera shops or even large supermarkets. .
A wide range of accessories is available for this camera, I will only mention the somewhat noisy B-winder with its typical German engineering "sewing machine " whining.
If you need a flash I would recommend the cheap and easy to find Praktica B220. A B225 (export version) would be even better because of its energy-saving function but it's not easy to find.
If you want autofocus there is the Pentacon Prakticar (actually Sigma) AF 70-210mm zoom.
A heavy and bulky lens requiring 3 AAA batteries but it's the only one still available.
Battery count : 1X PX628V (camera) + 4X AA (winder) + 4X AA (flash B220) + 3X AAA (autofocus zoom). Right, the camera feels rather light and easy to handle BEFORE you add all these parts.
With more than 200.000 produced and widely exported it is easy to find for a low price, you shouldn't pay more than 20 Euro for the most produced version with smooth leatherette.
For collectors there is the more difficult to find first version with waffled leatherette, don't spend more than 40 Euro on this version though. And if you really want something special search for a BC AUTO export model, unlike the other versions silver coloured. Hint : all those BC AUTO's seem to have ended up in France.
Though not systematic there are 2 issues most likely to be encountered with this camera :
- stuck film advance lever. This should be easy to check for the seller. Yet some of them simply "forget" to do so and it's a lethal defect : repairing would cost more than buying another identical camera.
- film speed indicator not functioning. Though not lethal rather annoying, especially when there are so many fully functioning B100's around. Because of this always look for a battery-tested specimen.
I would only recommend this camera for collectors, as a "photography student" you are better off with a full option camera such as the B200 or BC1.

Nice sheer dress though for slim girls only.
Good quality though only fits slim Barbies, very tight.
