Stereotypes and Sterile Old Hypes
Is Kurt Vonnegut just a writer for his times and will fade away forever niched as a 60s literary novelty? If so then the ignorant reviewers who thrive on topical generalizations will cement Mr. Vonnegut as an anti-war novelist. Well, he is, but he served during World War Two and it is vital this movie was made to promote true democratic thought that questions the limits and effectiveness of force. The current bogus premise about Slaughterhouse Five is based on feelings directed at the Viet Nam war. Beyond these things, the movie is very entertaining with sub plots developing that keep recurring which finally end with an optimistic message. Director George Roy Hill gives the movie a great chord of humor throughout, and the jumping from scene to scene was extremely well done as Mr. Hill does his best directing job ever. Every human feeling from elation to resignation allows the movie to hold your interest. Sure, you feel like a ping pong ball being jerked from one scene to another but the story line is a tight weave that lets you feel its texture. Really, there is no movie like this one and will eventually give Mr. Vonnegut the last laugh.

Reprint Cards Give You an Affordable Taste of Vintage
2 von 6 finden das hilfreich As I regress to the 50s after purchasing most of what I want from the later years, a major three-pronged problem faced me.
1) I'm not rich and want to spend my money on travelling
as well as collecting.
2) Even if I was rich, it would be very hard to find
true near-mint cards that are this old.
3) PSA Grade originals are sky high, into the ionosphere.
While I would love to show off an original beauty and know it will hold its value, reprints are the salvation. They are the exact copy of the old 50s and older cards. They have omitted the annoying gold stamp that Topps put on the front of their 60s cards. Most times the cards say something like a Bowman reprint on the back. It is so important that reprints are available to us "paupers", as we can experience nostalgia and history. In fact I think this hobby desperately needs us to survive. Collect, don't Invest!

Fresh Classics Beg for More Listening
I would haven given out 5 stars, but one of her best early songs, "Get in the Sun" was omitted. Still, it is hard to find an anthology album of a great musician with every great song. This one comes closest. The cover is an encapsulated photo of Joan in her music groove. She is more than a balladeer, a pure artist. This reminds me how prolific she was and is. A nice baseline for her younger fans, which I believe there are many, because, to paraphrase an old proverb, "Great artists are timeless."
