Best guide for serious birders
Was recommended by a great birder, Craig Hansen. Includes all eastern and western birds. I have been using a Peterson's Field Guide. This is a bit more current and comprehensive.

Lewis & Clark by Stephen E. Ambrose
I am a Lewis & Clark junkie and a huge fan of Dr. Ambrose. So this book is like candy. The pictures guide you through the Voyage of Discovery. It is easy to imagine how difficult this journey was.
