Slim, quiet, with all the best of the PS3 (and the worst)
I purchased this super slim PS3 500GB after my original "fat" PS3 80GB died after 8 years of good service (may it rest in pieces).
It really is slim and considerably smaller than the original PS3. It's also a lot quieter and apparently not as prone to overheating as the previous one is (we'll see in time).
It's got everything that you would expect from a PS3. In fact most of the specifications are exactly the same as the original PS3. This is both a boon and a curse. The most unwelcome hangup is the decision to do without an IR sensor, so you cannot use a universal remote without adding a dongle. This is what I do.
In a nutshell you get the same high performance gaming machine and apart from the design you wouldn't be able to tell any difference between this machine and the original.
The only noticeable difference is the disc loading mechanism. There is no fancy slot on this machine. The disc drive is top loading. You have to slide open a flap on the top of the machine, manually place the disc into the holder and then close the flap. A little bit like laptop disc drives. The advantage to this is that you can eject, replace and load discs while the system is off. The disadvantage is that it does take the sheen off of the product and render it somewhat "cheap". It doesn't bother me too much however. There is a bit of extra noise from the disc drive, but this is more than offset by the quieter cooling system.
Of course, also with a 500GB hard drive it's a huge improvement in storage space compared to the original consoles. This gives me extra piece of mind as I can download and install many games without worrying about running out of storage space.
Overall it's in some ways an improvement on the previous PS3s and in some ways not. In conclusion I'm quite happy with my PS3 Super Slim 500GB and I think you will be too.

Fantastic, powerhouse, convenient.
This is a fantastic product to charge your PS3 controllers. This unit completely eliminates the need to leave your PS3 on in order to charge the controllers (which is a waste of energy and a bit of a pain).
It has a two cradles with mini-USB ports to charge each controller independently. There is also an indicator for each to show you when charging is in progress and when charging is complete.
There are also two USB ports for other devices that require USB charging. These work independently of the controller charging ports.
The unit also has a power button that can cut power to the device completely, so there are no annoying lights when the device is not in use.
Overall, a fantastic product.
