Good for my purposes - cheap, too!
Actually, I bought this to make a portable polariscope for viewing minerals and for work with my glassblowing. My photography requirements are such that I now need circular polarizers - in fact, I use & recommend Vivitar filters for anyone on a budget. If you have the money, though, buy Hoya filters or any one of the excellent German-made ones.

So much fun music here
This album, along with Sense of Direction, is the pinnacle of the Climax catalog. Their previous work was also very good, but I felt that their subsequent output was a decline in terms of quality.
It happens.

Good info, but could be more in-depth about audio amplifiers
I knew this book was from the early 90s, but that wasn't a problem, as most good audio equipment hasn't changed that much (circuit-wise). The 2 sections on cassette technology are mostly passe now, but the coverage was very complete, and would be a boon for the retro tape crowd; I will use it to renew my ageing Nakamichi. Similarly, there are 2 detailed chapters on CD players that will be very useful.
The shortcomings for my use in 2024 are the somewhat irrelevant chapters on portable electronics and power supplies. Also, the chapter on audio amplifiers is pretty thin on the ground; it doesn't cover anything I don't already know. To be fair, though, I spent my working life as an electronic technician, but there is still more to learn.
The fact that this is a British publication is irrelevant. Other than the different mains voltages & frequency everything else is the same on both sides of the pond.
I don't regret buying this book at all.
