Latitude D830 - Good Business Class Laptop

This is my second week with the D830 laptop and I am happy with the purchase so far. It is fast, well built and easy to upgrade/expand. The laptop came with an Intel T8100 core 2 duo processor, 4GB RAM, WXGA LCD panel, 120GB hard drive, dvd/cd writer and Vista Business OS. No wireless/bluetooth. The machine was "open box" with 2.5 years left on a Dell extended warranty. I knew before I bought that I wanted to upgrade a few things. First, I switched to Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)... easy upgrade using standard MS or Dell Vista drivers on the Dell support site. I then added an Intel 5300 Wireless N card and Dell 360 bluetooth module. I also switch the LCD panel for a Dell WUXGA version...not an upgrade for the faint of heart but I prefer hi res panels. All parts including the D830 were purchased on Ebay at a total cost of $600. A comparable newer Dell business laptop (E6500) has only incrementally faster hardware (e.g. T8700 CPU) and costs $1300+. Down side? None really but understand that this is a business spec machine... not a gaming rig or an ulta-portable. If you are looking for these qualities then a "Latitude" is not the right machine to buy from the start.
