Budget Printer
After much on-line research, I ordered this printer for use at a vacation property. The printer was easy to set-up, as Windows 7 recognized the device and easily loaded the right driver. It works fine, and was a great value. That said, the printer itself, with the included "trial-sized" color and black cartridges was priced less than what a set of HP "full size" replacement cartridges would cost. It's like they give you the printer, and hope that they will make up for it on the back end, selling factory ink cartridges. Presently, if this runs out of ink, I'd likely be money ahead by buying another printer! If one wants a workhorse printer, spend a couple hundred dollars and buy a color laser printer. If color isn't an issue, find a big old HP office quality,laser, printer. We have two that have been going fine for a decade.

The Right Tools for a Tricky Job
This was the perfect tool set to disassemble our Shark vacuum cleaner for cleaning. The vacuum has some of these new-to-me fasteners for which I had no suitable tool. The set is well-constructed and the bits are extra long to fit into recessed areas.

Why Rent Time Warner's OLD modem? This is better. One-year break even.
Time Warner Cable had been "leasing" us their old modem (at $5.00/mo.) for about eight years. As the monthly fee for internet service kept increasing each year, a Time Warner Customer Service rep suggested we buy own modem, in order to reduce costs. After some research with some of my tech friends, we recently bought the Motorola Surfboard, SB6141 for $62. I'm told that it's the latest and greatest. It arrived promptly and the programming was done by phone with Time Warner support in about 5 minutes. Our internet service seems a bit faster and this modem is ready to accept any system upgrades Time Warmer may do in the future. Modems are pretty much bullet-proof.(The last one lasted 8+ years!) This new one will pay for itself in a year. Overall, I'm delighted. It was money well-spent.
